First responders/Emergency Services disability awareness training

IDA at NU has tailored a presentation for emergency responders designed for firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel. It brings together education on disabilities while enhancing sensitivity. The presentation includes definitions, etiquette and interaction skills, the disabled perspective, challenging behaviors, and current trends and topics, all relevant to first responders.

Hospitality Disability Awareness Training

Funded by a grant from the Statler Foundation, Niagara University Hospitality Disability Awareness Training is offered in conjunction with the College of Hospitality and Tourism. Hospitality professionals will learn to recognize accessibility flaws in relation to patrons with physical and sensory disabilities while understanding appropriate interaction skills and etiquette. The presentation includes disability discrimination, introduction to disabilities most prevalent in this setting, etiquette and interaction skills, the disabled perspective, accessibility/universal design, and current trends and topics.

DEAM: Disability Education and Awareness for Municipalities

Niagara University Disability Awareness Training (DAT) has received funding from the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation for Disability Education & Awareness for Municipalities (DEAM) to train municipalities and those invested in the disability community on how to educate and work with elected officials and their employees so as to ensure proper response to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
