Taylorsville, Utah Emergency Management Training

• This program, provided by Niagara University, provides training for emergency managers, local community leaders, and disability advocates with the information necessary to address the needs of persons with
disabilities and access and functional needs during disasters or emergencies.
• It addresses both the legal obligations, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other related laws, and the moral intentions to serve the whole community.
• Content includes FEMA Access and Functional Needs guidance and lessons learned from lawsuits and
citations levied against municipalities.

• Participants can choose to attend either of the following training programs:
􀀟 Part A:. Two-Day Program: This program is designed for those who are active in some Emergency
Management capacity or working in the disability community. Reporting on Emergency Management Access & Functional Needs progress and activities after the training is expected.
􀀟 Part B: Half-Day Program: This program educates individuals who want to learn about the process. be active in a capacity that suits their interest and availability and wants to assist in directing peers and colleagues within their municipality or line of work. Reporting on Emergency Management Access & Functional Needs progress and activities after the training is expected.
